This charming cottage is one of a row set on the edge of a village with its own fenced garden and secluded meadow. It offers an ideal base for exploring the beautiful West Country with historic houses, lovely gardens, Abbotsbury’s Swannery and the World Heritage ‘Jurassic’ coast all easily accessible. A shingle beach with an excellent NT cafe can be found at Burton Bradstock, 6.5 miles, and sandy West Bay beach is 7 miles. Charmouth, 8 miles, has a sandy beach and a fossil hunting centre. Lyme Regis is 12 miles. Shop 400 yards, excellent pub serving food 300 yards. Craft centre with restaurant 100 yards.

Reviews
The cottage was well placed for days out to Monkey World and Lyme Regis. We also had a lovely day at Ford Abbey and Gardens which is only around 6 miles from the cottage. Jackie the caretaker was very friendly and helpful (especially when we got lost at Crewkerne and had to phone her!) Also the Craft Centre at the end of the road was a bonus, lovely cream teas there too! All in all we had a good time and would recommend the cottage and area.

The cottage is ideally situated for the wonderful and varied walking in the area, many of which can be started from the doorstep.

The county town of Dorchester, with its High Street lined with 17th and 18th Century houses, is little changed from Hardy’s day, while the pretty town of Shaftesbury has been used as a location in countless films set in Olde England.
